EAST is run entirely by volunteers, we do not employ staff. We are always looking for more volunteers who can offer a range of expertise and experience. Our volunteers fulfil a number of roles, from IT, administration, catering, boat maintenance, fundraising and of course sailing; however the main qualification we look for is enthusiasm so a lack of expertise is no barrier to volunteering with EAST!

EAST is an RYA Recognised Training Centre & Sailabilty Centre of Excellence and you will be eligible to enrol on our training courses to build your skills, To find out more about the training we can offer, click HERE 

 

You will have regular opportunities to sail on the River Orwell. More importantly, you will sometimes go home with a warm feeling that you have helped make someone else’s day just a bit more enjoyable than it might have been. And you will have been working with a supportive, friendly team who share the same aims as you.

As well as our Keelboats, we have an active cruising section who also rely upon on owner skippers volunteering to come along on a cruise with their yacht for a 2 or 3 or 8 day cruise. We usually have around 10 yachts on each cruise and an Admiral who coordinates the event. Each yacht sails with one or two visually impaired crew and one or two competent sighted crew so volunteers are essential.
